I was born on Feb. 05' 1973 in a moderately traditional saryuparee  brahmin hindu family at Gorakhpur as a second child to my parents. I am 5'10" tall, fair complexioned and of average disposition.

I got engaged to Deepali on June 30' 2004 and subsequently married her on Nov. 27' 2004. We were blessed with a cute little male baby "Pranshu" on 7th June 2006.

My father Mr. R. S. Upadhyay, a law graduate joined state's Food & Civil Supplies Department in 1973 and has retired as District Supply Officer in July'2011. His last posting was at district Sant Kabir Nagar, which is a neighboring district to my hometown and is known for great saint "Kabir Das". My mother Mrs. Gayatri Upadhyay, a graduate, a simple, loving & caring lady, is a house wife. My parents are well settled at Gorakhpur, UP.

Capt. Sandeep Upadhyay, my elder brother is a commercial pilot by profession. He was awarded his commercial pilot license (CPL) by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India in 2000. He is a pilot with AirIndia. He got married to Padmaja on Jun 27' 2004. They were blessed with a cute baby Neel on Dec. 01'2005.

Dr. Anupama Upadhyay, my younger sister is a Naturopath and Reiki healer. She completed N.D.Y.D. (Doctor of Naturopathy & Doctor of Yoga) from School of Naturo-therapeutics (Arogya Mandir), Gorakhpur and subsequently become a Reiki grand-master too. She is a well known Reiki healer of eastern U.P. and runs a clinic of "Holistic Healings".

Let me tell you more about Gorakhpur .....

Located at Indian National Highway No. 28 and a longitude-latitude of 260 46' N, 830 23' E, it is one of the best cities of eastern U.P. (alias Poorvanchal). Named after the great saint of "nath" sect "baba Gorakhnath", who was an ardent devotee of Lord  Shiva, the city has a very beautiful temple in his name "Gorakhnath Mandir". The river "Rapti" runs by the city, originating from somewhere in Nepal and joining "ghaghara", another big river of poorvanchal.

Gorakhpur is also famous for "Gita Press", which has been providing Hindu religious scriptures at an affordable cost. Another place worth visiting is a well maintained temple "Gita Vatika".

Kushinagar, at a distance of 55 kms from Gorakhpur is a major Buddhist pilgrimage. It is the "mahanirvan" place of Gautam Buddha. Nepal is around 100 km. from Gorakhpur, where one may visit "Lumbini", The birth place of Gautam Buddha. The other places of importance nearby Gorakhpur are "Varanasi" and "Allahabad", both the places are at ~4 hrs drive.
